Born in the Kootenays. Hooked on paradise.
Lee was born and raised on Kootenay Lake and in Nelson, and has a deep appreciation for the Kootenay lifestyle. Lee knows the region in detail and in particular, the unique treasures of the Creston Valley and Kootenay Lake. Lee moved to the Creston Valley in 1982 with his wife Debby.
“Like a true artist or musician, entrepreneurs never retire. They stay engaged, perhaps in different ways. When people wonder why I work so hard at this stage of my life I know they don’t understand this way of being. I am an entrepreneur and service provider to the core. Its not work as most people know it.” – Lee Johnson
With 30 years experience as a general insurance broker holding national professional designations (AIIC, CIP), Lee and his wife Debby owned and operated Creston Valley Insurance Services Ltd. until 2007. They built the business from the two of them to a staff of twelve, helping thousands of people and establishing many long lasting client relationships, one person at a time.
Lee developed a client-focused business ethic that he brings to his career as a real estate professional.
Lee also understands real estate investing, having spent a decade owning, managing, and renovating his multi-family rental properties, as well as completing a subdivision and a hands-on restoration of his family’s 1910 heritage home.
For buyers and sellers, Lee is the person who is in their corner to help with the complex array of legal documents, taking care of the details that are part of their real estate transaction, and helping them negotiate their best deal.
Life experience speaks volumes. Character combined with credentials.
Much of Lee’s character and wisdom stems from the years where he consciously tended to his growing business, cared for his valued staff, clients, and his community, as well as being a devoted husband and father. Lee especially appreciates what it is like to care for aging parents and being available to support an ill child. Compassion, patience, and encouragement are resounding qualities that stand out most for Lee, while staying true to his nature of keeping things light and playful.
Speaking of play, the Kootenay lifestyle supports Lee’s passion for cars that dates back to early childhood, as well as his keen interests in outdoor recreation, including fishing, a love for birds, and photography. His wife Debby has inspired him to travel abroad, expanding his awareness and appreciation for different cultures.
Lee’s integrity and unique skills are perfectly suited to being a trusted real estate advisor. He loves to engage with people and enjoys being a partner with people in attaining their goals.
